We met in April of 2022 on Facebook Dating of all things. If your reaction to that fact is “Facebook has a dating app?” you’re not alone. It’s the most common reaction we get to our story. But yes, Facebook has a dating app, and no, we aren’t sure how to feel about Mark Zuckerberg playing a small part in us meeting either.

Filled with skepticism and cynicism, we both swiped right and expected nothing of it. And we’ve never been so glad to be wrong!

a modern love story

The day I knew he was “the one,” was Day 4 of a nasty bout of COVID. We’d only been together a few months, but had become pretty inseparable. After only being able to text each other for a few days, he put a mask on and came over with a care package. He brought flowers and snacks he knew were comfort foods. He took out the trash, brought in my mail, and we visited (six feet apart, of course). We were standing in my kitchen when he said “I love you” for the first time, and as I sobbed into my mask, he told me he was falling in love with me. All I could do was nod until I finally croaked, “me too.”
